RotaCap Gap Measurement System

The RotaCap gap measuring systems have been manufactured by Rotadata for over twenty years and are used by our customers worldwide.

The ‘short cable’ design means gap measurement accuracy is not compromised and with correct and annual re-calibration the probes will last for many years. Used with our RCAP software, installed on the control PC or laptop, individual blade gaps and hence individual blade lengths can be measured with continuing repeatability.

RotaCap and CapLong Gap Measurement System : Capability.

Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement systems can be configured to measure multiple blade tip gaps simultaneously across the whole of an engine compressor and turbine stages.

Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement system ground stations are configured in three, four and eight channel arrangements allowing up to twenty seven channels to be arranged.

  Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement systems are calibrated on the spin rig in our factory, prior to despatch, using calibration discs which simulate the blade tip profiles for the actual engine stages being measured.

RotaCap System Specification.

Module Supply Voltage: +/- 15V DC.
Rack Supply Voltage: 240VAC.
Linearity: < +/- 0.8% (F.S.O.) of the probe range
Measurement Range: 0to 6,00mm with nominal 5mm diameter probe sensor, and 1,50mm thick blades spaced 30mm apart. Other probe diameters give greater range depending on blade size etc.
Resolution: 0,05mm at maximum probe distance.
Frequency Response: DC to 200 kHz.
Temperature Drift: < 0.05% (F.S.O.) of the probe range per Deg C
Operating Temperature Range: 10C to 60C (recommended).
Output Voltage: 0V to + 10V DC Linear output vs probe capacitance
Cable Length Adjustment: Automatic
Gain Adjustment: 1 to 5 via PCB Switch
