Optical Pyrometry System (Rotamap II)
Software: Rotamap II
Our specialised controlling software Rotamap II, which is installed in the external control rack of the pyrometer system, generates a radiance map of the blade scanned area and features the following:
Rotamap II Configuration
- Rotor and sight tube geometry data input.
- Sight tube calibration software is built into the system and forms one of the parameter inputs. Note a ‘black body’ furnace or similar is required if customers wish to undertake their own calibration of the pyrometer sight tube(s).
- Information is stored for quick selection at test time.

Shown on the right is a non-removable oscillating mirror sight tube and electro-mechanically actuated pyrometer being calibrated using a black body furnace. When calibrating a removable fixed mirror or oscillating mirror sight tube the actuator is not required.
Rotamap II Function Testing
- Verification of all individual drive functions is available.
- Verification of all data acquired ‘end to end’, from sight tube mirror to the computer complete with test input.
- Verification of position information signals including sight tube, engine speed, etc.
Rotamap II Scanning.
- Fully automatic scan procedure
- Status and progress monitored and reported during full system operation.
- Automatic alerts and manual override.
- Data stored for future reference.
Rotamap II Data Display.
- Engine data decoded to radiance and position.
- Data processing filters out random noise and flame.
- Selection of display types for quick analysis - for rotor and linear images.
- Selection of file formats for further analysis - BIN, Text and CSV.
Rotamap II System Specification.
These are nominal values and are accurately defined on a job-by-job basis.
Nominal Temperature Measurement Capability.
Minimum temperature : 550°C
Maximum temperature : >1400°C.
Note: The above values are interdependent and dependent on measuring distance and sight tube access.
Detector / Pre-Amplifier Module Characteristics.
Detector type : Silicon or InGaAs Diode - dependent upon application.
Wide band, low noise instrumentation amplifier bandwidth DC to 300 kHz (+/- 3 db) minimum.
