CapLong Gap Measurement System

Our CapLong gap measuring system was developed with Rolls-Royce plc and provides a ‘long cable’ gap measurement capability. The CapLong cables are suitable for use in engine casings at temperatures up to 800°C and probe tip temperatures up to 1,100°C as standard. Customised probe designs are available for engine flight applications.

The CapLong ground station is designed for aero-engine flight or bench use as standard. All CapLong probes are calibrated in our factory before despatch so allowing the equipment to be installed immediately onto the engine or rig when measurement time is paramount.

Our ‘long’ cable construction and easy installation makes the CapLong measurement system one of the most versatile gap measurement systems around for use on large aero-engines and power gas turbines.

RotaCap and CapLong Gap Measurement System : Capability.

Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement systems can be configured to measure multiple blade tip gaps simultaneously across the whole of an engine compressor and turbine stages.

Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement system ground stations are configured in three, four and eight channel arrangements allowing up to twenty seven channels to be arranged.

RCAP Blade Clearance Display.

RCAP blade tip oscillation display.

Both the CapLong and the RotaCap measurement systems are calibrated on the spin rig in our factory, prior to despatch, using calibration discs which simulate the blade tip profiles for the actual engine stages being measured.
