Actuated Traverse Systems

Rotadata traversing systems provide un-rivalled accuracy in positioning aerodynamic probes in almost any kind of flow stream including that found in the highly aggressive environment of compressor or turbine stages in a working jet engine.

Standard actuators, some of them miniaturised, are available in a range of radial strokes from 25 mm to 460 mm and provide probe movement in both the radial and yaw axes.

If the radial actuator is combined with a tangential actuator or a circumferential actuator, probes can be traversed across a gas flow path area or annulus. Our standard actuators are suitable for use with probe sizes up to 22mm outside diameter.

Purpose built actuators are available for use with probe outside diameters up to 45mm and radial traverse distances thru to 1,800mm.

Used with our RTRAV movement control software up to six actuators can be controlled simultaneously and/ or independently. Data acquisition systems are also available for use with our traverse systems.

Our actuators are used in hundreds of companies across the world and with periodic service and re-calibration will continue to give good service for many years.

Wherever possible we have designed our actuators, auto-yaw modules, touch modules, cables, controllers and software to be interchangeable, so providing a versatile role in engine data measurement, with many actuated traverse systems being transferred within and from one engine development programme to another with only the need to change the probe configuration.
