Optical Smoke Meter: Calibration
Three methods of calibration are available for the meter.
- Internal control calibration
- Nitrogen dioxide calibration
- Optical filter calibration
The initial calibration at Rotadata factory is by the nitrogen dioxide method and follow up calibration, on a routine basis, is recommended to ensure accurate test results.
To maintain accuracy in use the meter should always be re-calibrated when moved to a new location, even if the distance travelled is short.
The Rotadata Optical Smoke Meter User’s Guide provides full details on how to calibrate the instrument and free copies of the guide are available from Rotadata on request.
Prior to delivery of the equipment we recommend that customer meter user(s) receive training in the operation and calibration of the instrument at Rotadata factory in Derby, England.
