Power Gas Turbine Diagnostics

Our family of gas turbine diagnostic Rotamap II optical pyrometers has been completed with the introduction of the RTA actuated pyrometer system designed for the thermal mapping of the turbine blades on power gas turbines. The pyrometer sight tube has been designed to use the access way provided on an engine for boroscope examination and enables a thermal map of the turbine blades to be acquired as the engine operates.

The typical engine gas path temperature operating range for the pyrometer is 600ºC to 1,300°C. The system can be used for turbine blade thermal mapping of power and industrial gas turbines either on shore or off shore providing lifetime records for the engine. Blocked cooling holes, blade surface coating deterioration, poor fuel burn and blade over-heating can readily be identified enabling the user to take the necessary remedial action before major damage is caused to the turbine blades. For further information please see our bulletin ‘The use of optical pyrometers in the power industry’.
